You're invited to join us for an unforgettable evening of music on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 7:00 PM, as It’s a Grand Night for Singing returns to the stunning Jarvis Conservatory in downtown Napa!
This month’s program is an all new visual art experience with singing. Not only will it take you on a chronological journey through art song, opera, musical theatre, and contemporary chamber music, but you will experience the visual art conception of Das Grapelings: wine grapes transforming to the emotional power of beautiful arias, art songs and musical theater. Whether you love the elegance of Schubert, the drama of Puccini, or the bold sounds of John Zorn, the infusion of visual art with song will enchant your soul. Our incredible lineup of Bay Area talent is joined by collaborative pianist Yvonne Wormer, with soprano Rachel Walter-Steiner serving as our host for the evening and the new immersive experience brought in by artist Mingtang Fitzpatrick. A very special and engaging July 5th concert not to be missed.
MEET THE PERFORMERS:
Yvonne Wormer, Pianist
Yvonne has been a collaborative pianist ever since her uncle commented that “she phrases like a singer” at a family gathering early in her music studies. Though it took a few attempts, she eventually graduated from Cal State Hayward (now East Bay), and has since accompanied choirs, singers, and instrumentalists with deep sensitivity and insight. Since 2003, she has served as staff accompanist at Sonoma State University, playing an integral role in the voice department. She is also the rehearsal pianist for the Sonoma Bach Choir and the liturgical pianist at Congregation Shomrei Torah in Sonoma County. Yvonne brings intuition, artistry, and a deep love for music to every performance.
Rachel Walter-Steiner, Soprano & Host
Rachel is a vibrant soprano and dedicated music educator whose passion for music is matched by her commitment to helping others discover their own voices. A graduate of Sonoma State University, she holds a B.A. in Music Education and Vocal Performance, along with a K–12 Music Teaching Credential. A Sonoma County native, Rachel has performed widely throughout Northern California, including with The Lamplighters, Ukiah Symphony, River Opera, and the Jarvis Conservatory. As a teacher of voice, guitar, and ukulele, she brings joyful creativity to her work. This evening, she will also perform Schubert’s The Shepherd on the Rock and the chamber piece Emily!.
Paul Troppy, Baritone
A pillar of Sonoma County’s choral scene and a longtime member of the Santa Rosa Symphonic Choir, Paul brings warmth, resonance, and heartfelt expression to everything he sings. He’ll lend his voice to Broadway favorites including Some Enchanted Evening and They Call the Wind Maria, bringing depth and charm to the stage.
Celia Green, Soprano
Known for her dynamic presence and vocal versatility, Celia has portrayed everything from operatic heroines to musical theatre powerhouses. Her thrilling rendition of Verdi’s Stride la vampa will ignite the stage with drama and intensity.
Senen Bagos, Jr., Tenor
A commanding operatic tenor and a passionate performer, Senen brings lyrical sensitivity and dramatic fire to his work. He will perform Puccini’s Che gelida manina and the beloved Filipino art song Babalik Ka Rin, showcasing his vocal and emotional range.
Daniel Gianola-Norris, Trumpet
A virtuosic and multi-talented musician, Dan is equally at home in orchestras, chamber groups, and experimental works. You’ll hear his expressive trumpet playing in a contemporary duet with clarinet and in the chamber piece Emily!, written for soprano and trumpet.
Sam Torrisi, Clarinet
Clarinetist and neuroscientist Sam Torrisi offers a rare combination of musicality and intellect. He performs in The Shepherd on the Rock, in a modern duet with trumpet, and anchors the clarinet lines in both classical and avant-garde works on the program.
Mintang Fitzpatrick, Immersive Artist
An artist that specializes in celebrating the culture and telling the story of wine in a new medium. Mintang explores the juxtaposition of stillness and motion, and its impact on the viewer of commonplace oft overlooked subjects (ie wine grapes) to tell their story.
